This backing video was played at Kinetik Festival in Montreal this year, during Ad-ver-sary’s set, where they were scheduled by festival organizers to open for the bands Combichrist and Nachtmahr.
I applaud Ad-ver-sary for having the guts to say something on stage, in public, about the casually violent, sexist, and occasionally racist imagery and/or lyrics that these popular “industrial” bands employ.
As for possible reasons/excuses for this imagery: I don’t care if it’s your “art”…. and I would question whether the world really needs that type of “art,” and even what the “art” is trying to say that is in any way relevant, interesting, “edgy,” or important, and not just some regurgitated vague message about media or whatever (?) that’s been said before, and better, by other industrial bands.
In summary: great job, Ad-ver-sary.
Note: grotesque NSFW material presented as evidence in the video above. Please watch with discretion.
For those interested, here is an interview with Jarius about why he decided to use this backing video at Kinetik.
Love how graphical this is.
